Is there an easier way to get Updates if I've edited core files

I’ve customized some core files to make the site include some of the things I want, etc. When I update, it risks erasing these customizations. So in the past I’ve copied them first, then reupload (if needed). Is there a way to accomplish both customizing the theme + seamless update other than this way? Thanks.

Hi,

You could use a child theme, if the files you are modifying are supported to be customized through it

If the files are not supported, then you will probably have to make them again, after a theme update.
