Issue with article without featured image on NEwspaper 6

Hi,

yet another issue with Newspaper 6…
Since we made the update from Newspaper 5 to 6, when we have articles without featured image, an ugly “missing image” square displays on the home page (see at http://www.iphonologie.fr). We changed the post template to Type 5 and still have the issue.
Thanks for your help to get it solved.

I think you can replace the default “no image” image with your own, such as a site logo or similar.

Obviously some image needs to be in the layout for a module with images.

Or, if you have images in your post or video, etc., without setting a featured image, you can use a plugin to “auto” set first image in post to be featured — which is helpful with older sites (we had this issue on our 10 year old sites).

Hi,

Thanks Chris!

@euzebius
Do you want to replace the placeholder images? Here you can change them – http://screencast.com/t/jGWcWsSIv
If this is not what you mean please provide more details.

Thanks!

Actually no. What we want to do is get the previous way of behavior :
– you have a featured image, it displays.
– you don’t have a featured article : it does not display this ugly grey thumbnail.

Hi,

@euzebius
This is how it was designed if you don’t have the a featured image the placeholder thumb will appear on modules. You can disable it from Theme Panel > Post Settings – http://screencast.com/t/ugfP0rr0mTln but please note that some blocks may need the thumb as the css may be applied on it.
Or you can replace it with your image like I suggested above.

Thanks!
