I need help with the following.

How can I get the sidebar to be on the left side for all post and pages on my site? When I chose the left side option when I edited my home page, the change was only effected on the home page and not on the posts?

How do I get ads to show at different spots on the site. I want to insert ad on the left side bar for all pages and posts and below the post title for every posts? These are the steps I took;

Under the Newspaper panel, clicked on ad then side bar and the code was inserted there. Then went to the widget area, dragged the “text adbox” widget to the side bar and chose the sidebar under the adspot and it didnt work.

I also went through the route of creating a custom ad then chose the custom ad under the adspot but no success.

This is my site: Make-extracash.com and I am using the M8 post layout on the homepage

What should I do?

Hello,

The sidebar has to be set to the left position from multiple places. The right position is the default one set everywhere, but if you want to change this, you need to edit the categories: http://screencast.com/t/O6NPsse6, the wp templates: http://screencast.com/t/DudOjlbRvUly If you have the sidebar set on every post to the right side and not set on the default position (from panel) then the settings from the theme panel will be ignored.

In this case you need to use 2 ad spots: the sidebar ad and the article top ad:

Thank you!

Thanks for the prompt response.

I followed your instructions and I have been to locate the sidebar where I wanted it to be. However, having followed the instructions, the ad codes are still not showing at the desired spots

Hi,
The implementation seems correct. The ads should show up. Please provide a link to your website so we can inspect it.
Thanks.

Hi,
I checked your site and both the article top and the sidebar ads display as expected: http://screencast.com/t/FiHElAse4h

My bad. Discovered I had an adblocker extension active on my browser. Thanks.

One more thing for now. The ad on the side bar is not displaying the right ad size. I have an ad of 160 by 600 set for the side bar but the ad size displayed is 300 by 250.

This is the code in the sidebar field within the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/7ht73NmzxkLx.

How do I get the sidebar to display the 160 by 600 size ad size for the home page and the individual post?

Hi,
You can select a custom dimension for your ad from these settings right besides the ad spots: http://screencast.com/t/pmk8iSMHieu0
Thank you!

Sorry to get in the middle of the post… I am also trying to get my sidebar on the left, and I can do it in every post, but sidebar position in homepages and frontpage still is right…
I have changed it in every place you mention there,
I am using one of the demos (the default one) and building over it.
Please is there any other place wher I have to change the sidebar position to get a left sidebar in homepage?

Thank you,

Hi,
This depends on how you create the homepage. If the sidebar is created directly on the page in the right section, then there is no way to move it except removing the elements: http://screencast.com/t/EpKCDwolk8E
In order to do this you have to remove the elements on the right and select a one column row for each row from here: http://screencast.com/t/yoYv0zaVUSN
Then you can assign a sidebar to the page from the sidebar section: http://screencast.com/t/Zom0yxbGww9
Thank you!

Thank you very much for the prompt reply and help,
As I am not very expert I guess the best is to move the contents of the sidebar to the main column, then following your steps adding them again after creating a new left sidebar…

Best Regards and Thanks again!

Update: Yep, I got it done!
Following your instructions I:
– Cloned the homepage (with a plugin for that) and worked on the clone to try
– Move the contents of all parts of the sidebar to the main (left) column
– Changed layout to single row
– Created a left sidebar, and changed again layout to 1/3, 2/3 (custom settings)
– Dragged the previous contents of the main column to the right column,

done, and working perfect now,
Again, a million thanks!
