Just bought, where to start?

I know this theme has a lot of greatness about it, and the demo looks ace, so perhaps this theme is wasted on me – my question is .. where to start?

On the demo, I only really wanted the theme to look like the Homepage – Blog part –

Am I best to start with installing the content from the demo, then working back by deleting all posts?

I attempted to make a new page, and called it home, I clicked on ” Templates ” and selected the ” Homepage – Blog ” and it said it’s added – but im not sure exactly what it’s done, or if that’s right, so didn’t click publish, Im worried im going to mess up the theme! :-\

My advice, since these folks are asleep right now–and I am a complete noob just started 2 months ago, so take this with a grain of NaCl:

1. Read all the theme documentation AND Chris’ sticky thread in this forum on switching themes
2. Backup your site
3. Create a child theme

I am not sure what you mean after that, but I’m guessing you like the look of the Classic Blog Stack’s homepage?

If so, on the Theme Panel > Welcome Page… Import Predefined Style (stack)… choose “Classic Blog” (if that’s your preference, “Default” or something else if not) and it should import the desired look without importing any posts or pics etc, like importing the entire demo would.

If you have done the first 3 steps, then you should have no worries about breaking the site.

Ahhh… now I think I understand… Judging by your post, all you have done is create a new page that is based on a basic template. If you already like the theme’s homepage with no changes, that’s not necessary, the theme will generate the home page itself, and its look will depend on which style or stack you import.

Thanks so much for your reply, I guess this is something I really should have started tomorrow instead of this time (it’s 23.04 here at the moment!)

I will certainly look through all of the documentation, I got a little excited :-\

With regards to trying to match the look of the demo theme, the side bars for example, I guess I need to move some widgets around to replace the standard wordpress ones?

Oh Wow right ok, Documentation is really helpful, as one would expect.. lol – As I said, I got a little excited and just jumped in without even reading err.. anything it seems! Lol

Completely understandable if this post was to be wiped off the face of the internet!!
