No one wants to build a website that’s already live, and yet there isn’t any information or support to allow us to develop our website without being live at the same time. So is there a way to build a Coming Soon page that won’t screw everything up?
Here’s a for instance… I will be building my headers and footers and front page content but I don’t want any of that to be public yet. I want a landing page with an image or video background, and a countdown timer and some promotional copy. Simple and to the point. Why is this such a challenge? I imagine MANY people would want this functionality.

Indeed our theme do not have an option for coming soon, most of users use a plugin for this -> https://optinmonster.com/wordpress-maintenance-mode-coming-soon-plugins/
Also another possibility is to set the page on private -> https://i.imgur.com/B4e90BQ.png in this way it can not be accessed.

hello @Calin, apologies for my stupid question….. bit of a dumb here.
From what you write, to add coming soon i’ll simply need to install a plugin (won’t need to remove theme).
Then i will simply have to activate plugin when i need to show coming soon to visitors. With coming soon active i will be able to work on theme/blog. Correct?

It is easy to use and has all the features you want. Once active, only logged in users will see the page.
