I see the height between sidebar and main post is mismatching and brings in more white spaces amongst post(in latest posts as well as Sidebar posts)

You can try different blocks on your sidebar or page because all blocks have different designs.

No. Its not.
At the moment, the “latest stories” title is not matching up with “featured” title in sidebar.
wherein “featured” title is one step down and matches with “post title”.

Is ‘latest stories’ perhaps your page title? I have tested this on my end and this is the result i got when using a page title and no title on the left block: http://screencast.com/t/V6QblNh6D
What you can do is delete the page title and name the block Latest stories or just name the block something different than the page title. If there is no title to the block on the left and a title present on the block on the right, they will not be aligned. http://screencast.com/t/xuUFTiYt
