Hello,
Is there perhaps a special reason why Linked-In is not a part of the social networks at the Social Counter Module?

Hello,
Not all the social networks share the api required for the counter implementation. Linkedin does not offer such implementation through their api. For the moment only the provided networks ca be implemented.
