Live search not working with 3.8.33.8.2 ?

Hello, does the live search work for anyone since 3.8.33.8.2 update ?
I disabled W3 Total Cache and still does not work..

What’s more annoying is that there are inconsistencies in developers’ changelog, i see one version in my theme panel and other version in the changelog file from the freshly downloaded zip.. 🙁

[ V 3.8.2 ]
- fixed missing image from facebook shares on video post formats
- usability improvements in the fonts selection panel
- fixed pagebuilder icons style
- posts with pagination register only one view per page (more accurate page view counter)
- we updated the revolution slider plugin to the latest version
- speed booster plugin - revolution slider is now compatible
- speed booster plugin - improved compatibility with jetpack
- fixed text and title widget issue when visual composer plugin is not installed
- fixed bbPress freshness date/username
- tagDiv social counter - fixed twitter issue again (please update the plugin)

Are these infos accurate? did i installed version 3.8.2 today or 3.8.33.8.2 ?

I think i got it, i had a redirect in nginx for ssl under wp-admin, commented out and it works now but.. why the hack does it call wp-admin/admin-ajax.php for the live search function? aint stuff in wp-admin/* supposed to be only for logged in users??

hi,
hi you can read here : http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-use-ajax-with-php-on-your-wp-site-without-a-plugin/

http://screencast.com/t/hAhpuErlZ

As part of its core, WordPress includes a handler file called “admin-ajax.php” to facilitate all things AJAX. This file will allow you to use jQuery to call PHP functions much like an API.

Thanks for you message.

Thanks Radu, i’m not gonna fiddle anymore with this, im kindof tired,
i just solved in my nginx.conf, here is the line of the server block for :80 that redirects all requests to /wp-login to the ssl part of the site:

location ~ \.php$ {
location ~* /wp-login { return 301 https://$host$request_uri; }
STUFF
}

it was:
location ~ /wp-(admin|login) { return 301 https://$host$request_uri; }
and was erroring for Newspaper theme, saw it in firefox web console..

So the basic idea is Newspaper theme uses wp-admin/admin-ajax.php for live search and possible other related ajax stuff so we must be careful about the access to that file.
