Load time

I have purchase newspaper 6 and find the initial load time on the server to be very slow at aprox 15sec. The initial load time before the byte is aprox 5 to 6 sec. I am on a dedicated server with Liquid web and ask my host provider to look into the slowness issue and below is their response. Please advise a solution.

I’ve determined that the plugin WPBakery Visual Composer was preventing W3 Total Cache from caching anything – and actually preventing any caching on the site. With it disabled, the layout on the site breaks – however, with it enabled, you should expect to see 7 or 10 second page loads – if not longer.

I’ve left it disabled at this time – if you would like me to disable that plugin, I can, but it will change the layout of your site.

Additionally, once that’s disabled, loads from cache happen in under my 1 second goal that I set earlier – to be honest, when a page is loaded from cache it looks to be taking about 1/2 a second for the initial page. However, the first person that loads the page still sees a longer page loading time – this is due to the other plugins you have enabled. I disabled:

A5 Custom Login Page
Revolution Slider
tagDiv Social Counter
And the page load time for a non-cache hit dropped from about 5 seconds to about 1 second.

I can disable these plugins, but they will break the layout of your site. That aside, these plugins are causing the slow loading times that you are currently seeing. How would you like to proceed for tonight?

To confirm, that’s the response from the author of WPBakery? The site linked there is tagdiv.com, the site where tagDiv Social Counter mentions – hence why I’m asking.

Additionally, in looking at that guide, items 1, 2, and 5 are handled by W3TC. I’m not sure why they’re suggesting to just use W3TC for page caching – if you do not do database caching, your site is still going to get slammed.

Further, with the sole exception of some CSS added by A5 Custom Login (or whatever that plugin is), none of the CSS/JS is currently blocking. The only request that is is the second request to the server – that request is handled by custom changes to wp-config.php that it appears that plugin makes.

The only thing that I have not done is to optimize the images on your site – doing this requires that you take them and resize them to the size you expect them to be on the server. I do not even know if that is currently an issue, but I haven’t resized them as that’s not something that we do.

The major point to take away from this however is simple: I’ve done as much of the stuff as I can do from this guide. However, there are quite a few interactions between your different plugins that prevents me from taking a couple of the key steps listed in this guide.
