Low Quality Header

Hi!

I’m busy customizing the theme and found out that when the logo is uploaded, the quality is less than the original.

You can see the difference in my test-invironment: gadgetreview.eu and the original at gadgetgoeroe.nl.

And yes, I’m 100% sure that I’m uploading a high-res version of the logo. Does this theme do anything with the uploaded header to make the filesize smaller or so? What’s the cause of this behavior?

Could it be a difference in your server setup or plugins? That’s odd that it functions differently on two sites running off the same theme.

No they are completely different themes. The ‘good’ header is on a Genesis theme, the other one is… well, you know this theme 🙂

Also I’ve the plugins which the Newspaper-theme suggested

On Chrome the header looks like sh*t. On Firefox it’s clear as water. Looking into this..

The actual file itself is untouched http://www.gadgetreview.eu/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/logo3.png I think the CSS resize may have to do something with the fuzzy effect seen on Chrome. I can’t elaborate as my Firebug extension has chosen to stop working on Chrome.

Interesting… Chrome makes images blurry… Chrome breaks dev tools.

i’m on a Mac. Checked what you said immediately on Chrome/Firefox/Safari.

But they appear to be all the same (un)fortunately. Perhaps one of the theme-devs know the cause?

Exactly, that’s what I’m experiencing! But only in all browsers hehe 🙂

You uploaded this banner through the theme customizer’s logo field? Maybe the dev’s know something about this (possibly huge banners don’t go into the logo because they get resized? http://screencast.com/t/eLqrVwQlBHwJ ) If that is the case then it would be an easy fix to add your header another way through the template code.

As far as I know though, I’m stumped! Let’s see what they say 🙂

Yep I uploaded it through the customizer. If I recall, before uploading this size logo, I tried it with the 300×100 and it also came out blurrified. I changed the size manually through Photoshop first btw with that small logo.

With this big header-logo I didn’t.

Maybe it’s because the retina version shows up on a non-retina screen?

Yey I was on the right track with the browser re-sizing the image oddly and making it fuzzy 🙂

If only Chrome didn’t break my Firebug extension.

Awesome 🙂 And it’s funny you switched to the Newspaper theme. Appcomrade.com used to run on Genesis a week ago too when I bought it (its old domain was appreviews4u.com).

All in good time, Newspaper will be the new Genesis 🙂

Yeah well… Genesis has no doubt nice features but this Newspaper-theme has features that are SO helpful for my purpose.

I’m still in the design-stage and finding out all the features of Newspaper, but so far I’m glad and getting a lot of energie out of it 😀

Yeah I know what you means. The visual composer is amazing and so is the review system.

And I spent 20 hours a couple of days ago building my site using Newspaper, so I know what you mean when you say you’re in the design stage 😀 It’s tough but rewarding to take a site all the way from testing to final release 🙂
