Hello,
I have the latest version of newspaper installed but I can’t change the main menu font color from black to white. There is no option in the theme panel (see screenshot: http://www.autozirkus.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/newspaper.jpg)
On another installation (not latest version) there is an option to change the font color…
Could you please check that?

Yeah the link color is tied into the typography options to better centralize customizations. Took a minute for me, too.
