I bought the Newspaper theme a little over a week ago for a project. Before starting, I created a directory on my hosting to understand how the theme works and its settings. But to my surprise when activating the theme a malware contaminated all my hosting leading to the loss of my personal website and everything else.
Has anyone else had problems like this? Can I really trust the security and integrity of the theme and its files?
I would like an answer or even support to understand what happened, because I never had a problem with other themes before.
Hi michelsaguiar, can you please provide some more datils about this problem? Do you have some examples? Our theme is scanned and verified before being uploaded to themeforest and is also verified by the platform’s tool for malwares, so there should not be such problems.
If possible, please do not provide as much information and details as possible and we will check where this problem comes from.

Everything was fine with my hosting and my main website, until I decided to do a fresh install of wordpress with Newspaper theme on a subdomain.
Right after installing the theme and activating it, some files and folders that I didn’t recognize started to appear and soon after I found replicated newspaper folders even inside my main directory. I tried deleting the folders, but they reappeared when I updated the directory.
In short, I had to reset the hosting, because all my hosting was compromised. And in the Skan of the server most of the contaminated files were in the wordpress installation with newspaper theme. That was what happened.
Now I’m afraid to use the theme again for any project. After all, I will end up losing U$ 59.00 from the purchase.
Besides, the loss wasn’t just the $59.00!
Hi michelsaguiar, If you deleted only the WordPress and theme files then should not be a problems, because the posts and all data is stored in database, but it is possible to have some tables in database that contains the malware, (not only extra files in WordPress).
