Hi everyone,
I was wondering if there’s any way to construct a Mega Menu of multiple categories without them being attached as sub-categories to a particular parent. Essentially, I would like the menu item to expand like a Mega Menu with subcategories, however without the requirement for the items dropping down of having a common parent category.

Unfortunately the mega-menu cannot work like that. It only works with sub-categories. You can have a category as a mega-menu that does not have any sub-categories. This is how it displays without sub-cats: http://screencast.com/t/mpjXwBJr6gGJ
If your menu item has sub-categories and this is set as a mega-menu then it will automatically grab the subcategories. This is the way the mega-menu was designed to work.
