Hi – I have just implemented a version of Newspaper on my site and noticed that their is a significant delay in having the main menu load.

How do I fix this in order to speed things up?
If you browse the homepage, you’ll notice that the newspaper theme seems slow… with Google fonts taking a while to load too. Based on observations, any other ideas to speed it up?
I am using Hummingbird and Smush to optimise.

Hi Bettina – Thanks for that.
I just noticed that the site (including the menu) doesn’t load fontawesome icons. I cant for the life of me find out why.
I’ve turned Hummingbird off as I thought it might be the asset optimisation, but it still doesn’t work.

Make a test and deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones, also if you are using a cache plugin, deactivate it, and see if the problem goes away.

Thanks – I had tried that but nothing seemed to work… which is v strange. I also looked at the functions file of the child template and removed some of the edits I had made, to no avail.
However, I installed the Fontawesome plugin and it seemed to fix the problem.
