I’ve created a number of different menus; however, the menus only populate according to their alphabetical order. If I delete all menus and create a new menu, that menu will populate in all sections (Main, Header, Footer). If I opt to have more than one menu, it does not matter which elections I use on a one menu, the alphabetical order overrides all of my preferences. Further, I cannot unselect any one option (Header, Footer, etc). Even after unselecting, the menu is still populated in all sections.
Hi,
That would be correct, the categories displayed in the mega-menus will be ordered alphabetically. This is how it is set by default, a setting to arrange them in a custom order isn’t available at the moment unfortunately for the default header styles.
The cloud header styles have an option to order them by ID – https://prnt.sc/oogfrv maybe there will be more options added, can’t say for sure at the moment.
You could use the plugin mentioned in this topic
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/category-order/
With it it should be possible to arrange the categories as you want. Please let us know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi Simion and thanks for your response,
I realize the categories in mega menus default to alphabetical order, but I am talking about any Menus. I currently have 3 custom menus loaded that I can toggle between. The first menu’s name starts with an ‘F’ and the last starts with a ‘V’ because they are listed alphabetically in the drop down for selection (that makes sense). I have selected ‘Header Menu (main)’ for the menu that starts with ‘V’ and do not have an assigned menu for my Footer. Despite this, the menu for both the Header and Footer default to the menu that starts with an ‘F’ no matter what. I have deleted all menus except one and the Newspaper theme always defaults to the remaining menu or the first one alphabetically, whether or not I have checked the ‘Header Menu (main)’ or ‘Footer’ box. Essentially, the menu toggles for the Newspaper theme, more specifically the ‘Nomad’ demo, are not working. I have uninstalled the Newspaper theme twice now and used a standard theme through WordPress and there are no issues with menu selection. If I choose two separate menus to populate the ‘Header Menu (main)’ and ‘Footer Menu’ or no menu at all for Footer, they populate without issue on WordPress standard themes.
Thank you and I look forward to your response
Hi,
For me the menu is displaying in the way is set it in the Appearance> Menu
-> http://prntscr.com/opeoer
-> http://prntscr.com/openrp
If this is not what you mean, please provide some more details and some screenshots.
Thank you for your understanding!
Happy to provide details and screenshots:
Screenshot 1 – https://prnt.sc/oq3vac
As you can see, I have 3 menus: one that starts with ‘A’, one ‘B’, and one ‘Main Menu.’ I’ve shown you the items I have included in ‘A – Menu Option’ for context.
Screenshot 2 – https://prnt.sc/oq3vyk
Notice in this screenshot that the ‘Main Menu’ is set as the Header Menu (main). Also take note of the items within this menu.
Screenshot 3/4 – https://prnt.sc/oq3wi7 https://prnt.sc/oq4cwm
Despite ‘A – Menu Option’ being selected just for my Footer, you’ll see that it auto populates the Header Menu (main) and the Footer. This is merely because the title of the menu is alphabetically before my selected, preferred Header Menu (main).
Screenshot 5 – https://prnt.sc/oq4p1m
In this screenshot you’ll see I rename the ‘Main Menu’ to ‘A Main Menu’ and rename ‘A – Menu Option’ to just ‘Menu Option’. I have not changed any preferences and the screenshot shows the items included in ‘A Main Menu’
Screenshot 6 – https://prnt.sc/oq4qz0
After changing the title of the menus, the ‘A Main Menu’ now shows as the Header Menu (main) merely because its name starts with ‘A.’ Please also note that, despite having ‘Menu Option’ selected as my Footer Menu, ‘A Main Menu’ still populates as the Footer and there is no way to change this.
Please let me know your thoughts. This has been incredibly frustrating to understand and there doesn’t seem to be a way to have two separate menus for the Header Menu (main) and the Footer Menu.
Thank you
Hi,
I’ve checked this problem on my install and for me all seams to work correctly
-> http://prntscr.com/oqdky8 -> http://prntscr.com/oqdl6n -> http://prntscr.com/oqdlhb -> http://prntscr.com/oqdlbr
Just make sure that you have the last version of the theme ( Newspaper v9.8) and you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all plugins and let only the tagDiv Composer, clear all cache and try again.
Let me know the results!
Thank you!
Calin,
Can you confirm for me the best/most efficient way to update my theme to v9.8? Do I need to fully delete the theme and redownload the zip?
Thanks
Calin,
As a follow-up, I completely deleted and reinstalled the entire Newspaper 9 theme – cleared all cache and only have tagdiv plugins. I’ve installed and uninstalled numerous demos and, I suppose it’s just a product of my luck, I am able to toggle menus without problem EXCEPT while using the Nomad demo. Is there any way to do an active interface with someone on the tagdiv team to help me out with this issue? I’ve been trying to get the Nomad demo to work now for a month and I still can’t get the menus to cooperate – this is driving me crazy.
Thanks
