I have newspaper 6 and using the default demo. Having the same problem as everyone else with Facebook with no success but also have a question around demos. i am very much a newly so this may be a silly question.
Each section has a mini menu and I am struggling to see what drives these listings. I have modified categories and can see it reflected in the change of options. But I have set up the first block to filters for a single category which has no child categories yet it still has a mini menu option with other child categories

Please provide more details regarding the facebook issues. Do you refer to the Social Counter plugin? Please make sure you use the latest theme version 6.6.3, then deactivate and delete the Social Counter plugin – http://screencast.com/t/4f9ZPR9sNl6Y and install it again from here so you will make sure you use the latest version – http://screencast.com/t/ioeIReUJ4
Even if you use a parent category the child categories will not appear automatically using ajax, they have to be added manually to appear. So please check block settings and remove thos ids – http://screencast.com/t/0SNBIfoVy

Thanks so much for the explanation. That makes more sense now and will allow me to create exactly what I was trying to achieve. Sadly I have done something silly and now appear to have lost the ajax menu items. I cannot add a screen show from the computer I am on today. Will send it through tonight (Sydney time). I have set Category Filter to on of my categories that has child categories. I have posts that have both the parent and child categories ticked. On the ajax TAB I have no selected Filter by category and in the drop box field I have added a series of category numbers separated by commas. I thought this would meant that posts that have the selected category ticked would appear in this section (they do) and that there would be drop down menu items for each category that I have added to the field above.
Is there something that I have missed?
As for the Facebook. Yes it is the Social Counter plugin, I have followed every step of the instructions except activating and deleting as I only purchased the themes and plugins last weekend. I assumed they were current. I will try that and see what happens

I suppose you are referring to have a drop-down menu in the ajax filter for each child of the category. Unfortunately, our theme does not have this option implemented. The ajax filter will display inline all the categories/subcategories
wich are selected from the panel. Maybe it is possible to achieve what you want but is required custom work. If you are not aware the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to do this for you because we cannot provide custom work at the moment, sorry!

There is a line of options to the right of the label “Don’t Miss’ and “lifestyle News’ I have managed to lose these when I tailored my data. I assumed they were a filter of sorts on the child classifications and that this was determined by the Ajax field.
Unless this has clarified it for you and you have a quick answer, I will do as you advised and have a chat to a developer. I am sure what I am wanting to d is within the basic setup and that I have done something wrong in my setup.
