Mobile: Dont load instad of "hidden"

Hi there,
is there any possibility for an element to not be loaded in the mobile version, instead of just “hidden”? I need to exclude a pretty big photo and don’t want it to be loaded.

I searched for a code and found that maybe it can be done with Java but I am not sure if that works.

All the best
Anna

Hello Anna!

In order to avoid misunderstandings, please provide more information(screenshots/video) about what exactly you need to achieve or what is the issue there and your website link.

A solution for sending a screenshot/video is this:
Download, capture, and send: https://www.techsmith.com/jing-tool.html
After making the screenshot, you will have a link; paste it here.

Thank you!

Hi,
I don’t think a screenshot is needed because this is an issue I experience often in the Tag div composer:
For example I use a “Text with title” or “Single image”. When I don’t want to show this element in the landscape/portrait/phone viewport, I select CSS – Display: hidden. So this element is hidden for example in the phone version.

But: The element will be loaded as it just is hidden.

Now I want to design a very wide header image for my first page – but a different one for phone users. If I just select “display: hidden”, the very big header image with a couple of MB will be loaded in the phone version – which is not useful. It should not be loaded in the very first place.

I hope now it’s clear 🙂

Hi sloope, you understand correctly how the option to hide the image works, what I recommend is to use a mobile page header – https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages/ doing this on mobile will be used a different header and should no longer load the one from desktop.
Thank you!

Hej, ok I will try this. Nevertheless it would be cool to have an option for other elements that are not in the header.

Hi,
I understand what you are saying and it is possible that in the future this implementation will be done in the theme.
Thank you!
