The feature displays the articles which have the most views in the last 24 hours, regardless of the publishing date of those articles. So, the date of publication is not important here. Only the number of views from the past 24 hours.

The number of views displayed in the Posts list (admin side) is the total number of views, not just the ones from the last 24 hours.
