Modules MX

In the admin you can style Modules and Modules MX. I searched high and low, but could not find any information about this. To be honest, I’m rather disappointed about the lack of documentation on the admin settings. Most of the settings are not explained, and not even mentioned in the docs. Anyway: what are modules MX?

Hello,
Every block uses a module. Modules MX are just another type of modules used in our theme. You can see a list of every module and what block uses it here: http://screencast.com/t/43i5BwLI
MX modules are used here: http://screencast.com/t/MvbKi7ma
I hope this helps.
Thank you!

Thnaks for your reply, but actually that didn’t help. The info you show was of course known to me, it’s in the admin. But what remains unclear from the admin, the demo, and the documentation is how blocks and modules are related. In other words, what modules are used to create blocks, and in which way. Unless we know that, working with modules is like working in the dark, we don’t have a clue what effect tweaking a module in the admin has on the frontend.

I found old documentation with some helpful drawings that show exactly what I mean, but it’s only for a handful of blocks. In VC you can choose many more blocks. We work with blocks, not with modules.

I find the current setup very confusing. There are so many technical settings that have no apparent relationship with the output in the frontend.

Unless I miss something…

Hi.
Let’s try this another way. Our theme uses modules. They are the base element. Modules are used on their default behavior on category pages or the related articles section, where you can actualy select what module you want to display from the menu: http://screencast.com/t/Pu9yASEBRzZu As you can see in the theme files. there are more modules in the theme than the ones you can chose in the panel: http://screencast.com/t/tADdgqaPXp like the MX modules. They are used by the theme in set/specific places and cannot be used directly.
A block is simply a container, a box if you wish, in which we place one or more modules. These blocks are predefined and have these modules set to them. For example a block 1 is made up of 1 module 4 and 4 x module 6

if you cannot refference what modules are used on blocks from the category tag list i exemplified above, you can use your browser inspector to see the classes for each module: http://screencast.com/t/aYjD5V5xs
I hope this helps.
