More articles box options

Hello,

The more articles box options allow to set what kind of articles we want to show, like Latest Article OR From Same Category.

The issue I am facing is that I want to show articles from the same category, BUT sorted by “latest”.

On a news website, on a tech article, you want to show the readers articles related to tech, but always sorted by “most recent”. With the current implementation, on the other hand, it shows random articles from X months or years ago. Thus, the reader will see a box saying he should read a news piece that’s very very outdated. Kinda useless.

Moreover, if an article is assigned to a parent category and to a child category, which one will be used when matching “same category” ?
If I have “news” and “opinions” as parent categories and each one has “tech” and “fashion”, how will the “more articles” box decide what posts to show?

Hello,

If you want to show the latest articles please select the latest articles filter, You cannot combine 2 filters unfortunately. This element does not allow in depth sorting as you mention. Only 1 filter can be applied.
As for the category, it will be the same main category. A post that belongs to a sub-category, also belongs to the parent category. This is a default WordPress functionality.

Thank you!

I know quite a few versions have been released since this issue was addressed. Wondering if any additional sorting capability is available? Almost any option on a news site other than “Latest” or maybe “Same Author” seems minimally helpful. Sorting by tags and categories are great, but as soon as an article appears from years ago, the reader gets confused. Would appreciate any suggestions for a workaround. Thanks so much!

Thanks for the reply. We are using 10.3.5 but still not seeing an option that addresses the original issue posted above. If the More Articles option is selected, using the Category filter, posts are included from years ago instead of Latest. If the Latest filter is used, posts display from unrelated categories. Is there any kind of code we can drop into a template that would allow for a secondary sort and make this feature more efficient? Thanks so much!

Hi ninjaray,

The “More article box” can be filtered using only one filter -> https://i.imgur.com/FEGDmGg.png using Category filter will pick all post random, using Latest option will display the last posts that you’ve added on website without checking the category.
The file that contain the more article box is on this path -> wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/common/wp_booster/td_more_article_box.php -> https://i.imgur.com/umh8tVq.png

Thank you!

Hi, Guys:
I am using your theme for a product website. Can you please help with the following:
1. For More Articles option I have a pop-up on the right-hand side that shows more blog-posts. How can I customize the text “More Stories” to “More Products”?
2. On More Articles: I have 2 Tabs: “Related Articles” and “More from the Author”. I also need help on changing these texts as well.
Can you please help?
Thank you,
Diana

Hi Diana – I think what you’re looking for is in the Theme Panel > Translations > Translations section. You should be able to change the text you referenced in there. Be careful, though, because some of the original texts (like “Login” or “Tags”) appear in multiple areas so be sure to check that what you’re editing is for the area you’re targeting. It’s a very helpful feature but might benefit from being broken down better into sections or categories in the future. Hope that helps.
