Hi
I am using the Most Commented option for a block on my homepage to show the most popular articles by comment. Is there a way to set a date restriction, otherwise the most popular commented articles of all-time will forever appear at the top.
I would like to restrict it to a number of weeks or months, so that other more recent articles will eventually appear in the list.
I would prefer not to have to exclude articles by ID, as this will end up taking more time and manual intervention to maintain.
So now it has been almost 6 years since this small feature request…
I definitely need to have Filters > Sort by -option for the Most commented FOR A TIME PERIOD.
Like you have have for Popular with either All time, Last 24 hours, Last 48 hours, and Last 7 days. And even one of these would be ok, but now there is only “all time”… Otherwise really doesn’t service it’s purpose if I get a listing of several years old posts, as I’m building a news site that is publishing 10++ articles daily.
Building any meaningful Newspaper site need to have this filter option. I know your competitor JNews theme has it.
If you are unable to fill this feature request soon, can you at least write a guide on how to add such a filtering option programmatically (I’m a professional software developer, but this is a really basic feature request everybody should have)?
Thank you!
Hi uxengineer,
In case you want to display in a block the most commented articles, then you can use the element “Recent comments”.
Also, if you want to use the filters ” All time, Last 24 hours, Last 48 hours, and Last 7 days” make sure that the option under the theme panel > block settings > 24/48 hours and 7 days post sorting is enabled https://i.imgur.com/O9OOpuU.png also, the Ajax View Count should be enabled and you should have the view post cownt element on your post template https://i.imgur.com/iPqFKN6.png
Thank you for your understanding!
