My edits in the footer are saved. But when I edit and save on the homepage, it is not reflected.

Adding the following code to .htaccess fixed it, maybe I need it.
<LocationMatch /wp-admin/>
<IfModule mod_security2.c>
SecRuleEngine Off
</IfModule>
</LocationMatch>
