I just want to have my homepage showing the title of each post and first few lines. How should I customise? I could not find any templates showing just the title without pictures/images but with the first few lines of the post.

Unfortunately there is no block/module which you can use to have only the post title and excerpt on your page. You could edit the td_module_2.php file though and remove the image function, like this: http://screencast.com/t/bn19XO49Gt then use block 7 on your page. If you only want to have the title of the post you can use block 10.
