Need Twitter feed on homepage

Hi. I would like to add a twitter feed from our regular Twitter account onto the homepage of the site. I can’t find a plugin or box to add using the composer. How can we easily add a twitter feed on the homepage right column?

Add a widgetized sidebar; then put the widget for twitter feed into the custom sidebar. That’s what I do.

Thanks for a quick reply. I tried that, added a widgetized sidebar, put in the code for the Twitter feed (using the plugin: Feed Them, good idea?) and get no result.

The code used inside the widgetized sidebar:
[fts_twitter twitter_name=test tweets_count=6 cover_photo=no stats_bar=no show_retweets=no show_replies=no]

Any clue? How to make this work?

Hello Sasser,

Sorry but please notice that our theme does do not have any such an option for this and also, we do not have any recommended plugin in this case, sorry!

Thanks.

Hi
I’m assuming you put the widgetized sidebar into your layout.

Then you put your custom ‘homepage’ sidebar into the block on your layout.

Then you added the plugin to the ‘homepage’ sidebar, and tested? And also tested it works on “any” sidebar like the default one, not just the custom one for homepage?

There are many simple ‘plugins’ which have widgets that you can drag to the sidebar and configure from appearance > widgets > sidebar — and then that sidebar would go into a widgetized sidebar ‘block’ on homepage.

That’s how I insert weather widget on my home page, for example.

Catalin, yes I know. Thanks. But I want to proceed with this task. It’s very important for the site (NewsVoice.se) to have this Twitter feed box since it will work as a recommended “side” reading for our visitors.

Chris Thanks; I will try again. I’ll be back.

I am 100% sure many users of TagDiv’s themes will like this kind of solution, very useful for many news sites.

For our news sites, not so much — as our tweets lead to our stories, and somebody already on our home page can follow the links ON our home page to the stories, so redundant for us. However, I did this with our ‘blog’ to put the blog tweet feed on front page, and other random thoughts not posted on the site.

Was simple to do using the method I outlined. Your mileage may vary 😉

Best to use dedicated function or plugin/widget since Twitter has changed their API many times, and updating themes just for that element alone might be annoying (personal opinion).

Ok I see. The usefulness of this kind of twitter feed box, for our readers, is to present stories in other media (not just on our own site). In that way NewsVoice may attract visitors that want to have a monitoring service of whats goes on in the world. That is the general idea.
