So I just updated the theme to 9.6 but on theme dashboard it still says 9.5 why is that?

If in theme panel shows the Newspaper v9.5 means that the update was not succeed.

Please login with your credentials on themeforest.net and download the Newspaper 9.6 from there with all files and documentation; here you can see when was make the update an what news have :

Before you make some updates please make sure that you make a full backup to your website.
After you make the update please check the theme plugins and activate tagDiv Composer if this plugin is not activated, also if you are using cloud templates activate tagDiv Cloud library too.
