I’m trying to load newspaper 9 and when I upload the zip file and click install it states that the destination folder already exists. Why does it not just overwrite? What do I need to do? And please I don’t want to ready 10 pages of text in a user manual. Is there a short answer you can provide?
The simplest language:
1. Make backup folder of your site: ../wp-content/themes/Newspaper
2. Delete this folder (Newspaper) with all content.
3. Upload and extract zip file Newspaper.zip with the theme from themeforest.net to your folder ../wp-content/themes/
4. Enjoy!
If you don’t want to read “10 pages of text in a user manual” just watch the video:
Hi thanks but this is not the solution I’m looking for. I’m not interested in FTP.
I have updated easily in the past through WordPress and it should continue to be consistent. Your support info states: 1. navigate to themes 2. click install themes and upload 3. browse the newspaper zip file and click install now 4. Activate
on step 3 I get message that there is a duplicate folder and install failed. That didn’t happen with the previous two new versions that I installed the same way. So what is wrong? What do I need to do to fix THIS method of upgrading (that is in your support material).
By the way, no one wants to read long convoluted help material (that is so archaic) Videos are nice.
Thanks for your help!
I can not activate the new theme because it does not show up. If I deactivate old theme there will be no theme. Are you saying deactivate then upload new theme and THEN activate? Because now, when I try to load version 9 it states cannot install because of duplicate folders. If it does not install obviously I cannot swap themes. What then?
Hello Alicegreentree,
Please notice that we recommend installing the theme via FTP way because this is the surest method in this case. Also, if you will do not read our installation guide, probably you do not install the theme, sorry!
Also, if you will need more assistance in this case, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin), CPanel access and FTP so we can take a closer look at it.
Thanks.
It seems it is not installing because the zip file you provided stating it is newspaper 9 is actually newspaper 8 which was there previously. Can you ensure that newspaper 9 is in the downloads? I have 8.7 active now and also an 8 available. When I deleted the 8 it works and new one installed, but it is showing as 8.
Hello Alicegreentree,
The latest version of the theme can be downloaded from Theme Forest which is version 9.1. Maybe, could be a cache problem. Clear all of your caches, purge CDN and check if you have correctly installed the latest version of the theme via FTP way.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for the message!
