Once any new update affected my website layout, I installed the Newspaper-child theme and Active: Newspaper Child theme. Because I never overwrite exciting main theme file .
Once any new update affected my website layout, I installed the Newspaper-child and Active: Newspaper Child theme. Because I never overwrite exciting main theme files.in Child Theme. Only below mentioned files in the Child theme

If you have in the child theme only those files, then the layout of the website should not be affected when you update the theme, but it is possible that some theme plugins to not be installed/updated during the theme update. Also, Sometimes it is a good practice to set the main theme during the theme update and only after that to set the child theme to be sure that there is no function interfering with the theme.
