A question that’s been bugging me since a couple days. Newspaper is the more popular and costlier alternative to Newsmag. It is also Tagdiv’s featured theme. And yet I find that Newspaper lacks many of the features that Newsmag has. For example, there is the post carousel, the lightbox for all images and a better slideshow. Newsmag also looks sleeker and better decorated. All this raised a question in my mind: was it a good decision from my end to buy Newspape for $58, when I could have just bought Newsmag, with more features and a better appearance, for just $48? Also, is there any other reason except for Newspaper’s popularity, as to why it is costlier? Is it at all possible for Newspaper to include the fabulous features that Newsmag, including a special stack called “magazine” in the next update? Finally, can we expect Newspaper 5 to be a better alternative to Newsmag 1 in the coming days?

I think Newspaper 5.0 will make you happy, but no specific ETA (I’m guessing end of April based on their past release schedule). Totally a psychic prediction !
Of course, buy both and you can switch between them while keeping a lot of settings, which is nice 🙂

We plan to add Smart Lists, Smart Sidebar, the new page Mega Menu, a new grid and look, as i mentioned on the other message we’re working on it, it will be out by the end of April-May
We also plan to add new stacks, can’t say for sure when a Magazine stack will be added but it’s on our list.
The price difference was established by Envato, when Newsmag was launched it didn’t have Bbpress, Buddypress and Woocommerce compatibility (Newspaper had ’em all).

Thank you! That is exactly what I needed to hear! As both you an Chris pointed out, Newspaper comes with greater compatiblity in terms of bbpress buddypress, etc. I’d love to see the new grid, smart list and smart sidebar integrated into Newspaper 5, as well as the fantastic new stacks.

@princepetropia sin duda alguna el newspaper es solo promocion y propaganda el newsmag es un mejor theme aunque tiene un menor costo yo tengo los dos y aunque newspaper tiene un mejor diseño newsmag tiene menos errores y mucha mas funciones :3
