after reading the forum, many individual tests and further coding checks we can clearly say that the newspaper theme is currently not fully compatible with the Yoast SEO plugin. Sure, partial things working, but not the important URL features. Especially when it comes to canonicals there is a bit problem with your theme.
The newspaper theme creates a corrupted canonical link as soon a post is time scheduled. This is a big issue for all news outlets that rely on scheduled posting and prober content management.
This problem is already mentioned in your forum…
… and unitl today there is no solution.
The Yoast Plugin is one of the most used WordPress plugins in the world. I assume many people will use the theme together with the Yoast SEO plugins.
Please guys check this with your dev team and provide a quick fix.
