Thanks for the follow-up. I am already compressing all jpeg’s with the method presented in the official documentation add_filter( 'jpeg_quality', create_function( '', 'return 60;' ) ); . Some of the pictures we uploaded are PNG’s and these are not compressed. I am considering replacing all of them with jpeg’s, but I doubt it will make a difference.
Caesium seems cool, but there are over 15 contributors to the website, making it impossible to be used by others.
Wp Smush is cool, I wanted to use it for years, but the Pro version requires monthly subscription that’s quite expensive. Isn’t the free version kinda limited?
Thanks for taking the time to answer!
@Erythros This was your report- https://gtmetrix.com/reports/esportsmedia.ro/ddqNolSm .
As you can see, you are not using async in your javascripts. Jquery may be key element, but you can use async on other scripts here. Try to use some speeding tool in your content delivery network, they often provide automatic async to these.
About the images, you will definitely have to work on it if you want the speed to be good. I will say you try the Wp-Smush free first, even m using it too currently. It will do much of the work in my opinion. And I’m still seeing this image https://esportsmedia.ro/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/page_bg_3.png as your background. Try to use color i gave you. Html color code will remove the image dependency.
Just a quick update to the guide:
Further Speed can be increased by-
Setting Post-template to Post Template Style 5 or 12 (i prefer 12). This removes viewing your featured image in the post and reduces the load. Note: Do set a featured image, as GoogleBot will still crawl your website and will be able to fetch this image for showing in rich snippets (if applicable).
Apart from that, the users who were having trouble with http to https redirections, following code can be added to .htaccess file in your hosting cPanel:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
Note: Do not duplicate RewriteEngine On
