This file seems very large just to display fonts/icons.
I understand from a different post on this forum that this is the file used for icons. I am not using any icons. Is there a way to disable this?

Those are the fonts used by the theme. Please note that we recommend you using 1-2 fonts / site. For that you will have to edit your page using tagDiv Composer and make sure that you are not using multiple fonts: https://www.screencast.com/t/wkJDQNi0WW

Why is the file 120kb? 120kb seems like quite an excessive file size.

We have made some investigation and indeed the 120 – 140 is good size for the font file.
