I want to control manually, if the large version of an image can be displayed, so I switched of the GENERAL MODAL IMAGE in the post settings.
But now I found out, that when linking the image to the media file manually, no modal image viewer for this image is displayed. It opens as image file in the browser, and not in am modal viewer. Is this a bug or is there a setting I don’t see?
I just noticed, that there is a setting “Modal on/off” in the image properties.
But I have hundreds of images in my posts and I can’t set this option individually.
How can I achieve for a click on an image:
Link on image to media file => open in modal viewer
No link on image => nothing happens
I don’t want a general modal on every image.
Hi be2name, if the theme panel option is enabled should work just fine.
Normally the images should be set like this – https://forum.tagdiv.com/modal-window/
What I can recommend is to check if the Jetpack plugin is enable, if it is, then it can interfere with the theme option (for a test please disable the plugin if you have it and check the results).

my problem is, that I don’t want to enable the theme setting, because it enables the modal window for all pictures. I’d like to control this individually and did this in the past by linking an image to the media file or not. With my old theme, the linked images where displayed in a modal window automatically. With Newspaper I additionally to the link have to switch the modal view on. Is it somehow possible to display all linked images (and only these!) in a modal window. I’m not able the change the settings of hundreds of pictures.
Linking to the media file AND enabling the modal view, does not make sense in my eyes. I want a modal view automatically, when linking to the media file.
Because on the other side, I get an error, if the file has no link and the modal view is enabled.

Normally if the theme panel option for modal is off, then only those images that have the option set individually should still have the option for popup enabled. Now, I think the problem is not for new posts, and it is for old posts, right? This is a little complicate, because if you try to rest the image option it will be rest on all images (like add on all or remove from all the option).
