I’ve built my new homepage using tagDiv and Yoast shows “SEO not available” for the page. It also says, “Your homepage cannot be indexed by search engines. This is very bad for SEO and should be fixed.” Anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? All other aspects of yoast like title, keywords etc have been entered

Use Yoast SEO to optimize your homepage! 🙂

For the ‘page’ you create to set as home page, at bottom will be settings from Yoast SEO to set stuff for that page.

Also, you can add a h1 description of your site in a simple text box on home page, either at bottom in a new row, or in sidebar.

See the YOAST SEO user guides on how to use with your custom home page.

Chris, isn’t the Title at the top of the homepage in the editor panel THE H1 title for the page?

No, the title for a ‘page’ built to be used as custom home page is just a framework, it’s not an actual page (it has no slug, for example — it’s not ‘home’).

So, if I make a custom home page, called ‘homepager’ to use as static front page, I use Yoast to put in my custom info, custom image for sharing home page to social, title for meta and description.

On the actual page layout, I add a plain HTML text box, with my H1 text in there, using a class like
.h1homepager{font-size:21px;line-height:26px;font-weight:bold}

My website is about giant killer bunnies who hate swastikas. SwastiRabbitz are gonna get you if you don't watch out!
