I followed your direction to place my ad in the Theme panel, but regardless of where I place my ads, I have a big space below the ad before my article begins. I’m copying and pasting this below as recommended by you:

That can be caused by how the ads code has been made, how it responds to the wordpress, to the theme. There are a lot of factors that can cause issues on things like this.
