Everything was fine and then all of a sudden, the Now Trending sidebar was blank and the Popular in Last 7 Days module on homepage was not working anymore.

This issue comes from deactivating the post views: https://www.screencast.com/t/8lqJMGhaJJuJ
You will have to have post views active in order to have the Latest articles function.
