On this story and others, where we’re using content type video, the following OG data tags are showing up which apparently is making Facebook thing it should display the post as a video, not a usual link
Any idea why this is happening? It’s not happening for all posts that are videos using Template 11, just some.
<meta property=”og:video” content=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/asw27qdLpsU?autoplay=1&rel=0″><meta property=”og:video:type” content=”text/html”><meta property=”og:video” content=”https://www.youtube.com/v/asw27qdLpsU?version=3&autoplay=1&rel=0″><meta property=”og:video:type” content=”application/x-shockwave-flash”>
Also the result of this is Facebook trying to play a video on the Newsfeed, which doens’t work and just creates a blank white space mostly.
Can this be disabled somehow so articles with videos still show as content type article? or at least this functionality gets disabled and it shows like a regular post on Facebook with a large thumbnail?

Hi,
The theme doesn’t add the og:video meta on your video posts. I suggest you check plugin’s settings for an option to not add an og:video on video post formats.
I’ve tested this using the Yoast plugin and using the default settings of the free version of the plugin the video og wasn’t added to the post page so you can try settings the plugin to the default settings or if you use a paid version of the plugin look for settings related to this.
If you’re also using the free version with the default settings please let us know how to recreate this and we will have a closer look.
Thanks
Sorry but this is still happening. We disabled Yoast and its still happening. We even disabled Yoast. It doesn’t appear YOAST is doing it.
See all the OG Video stuff being added:

Any other ideas?
Getting this message in YOAST however no second plugin name is listed, its like something built into theme is conflicting:
The plugin(s) might cause issues when used in conjunction with Yoast SEO.
Both Yoast SEO and create OpenGraph output, which might make Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social networks use the wrong texts and images when your pages are being shared.
It’s happening to any video using this template and set as a video:

And Facebook doesn’t like it to the point the post is not sharable.
Seems to be even when YOAST is deactivated, or OG in Yoast is….only appears to happen when using Newspaper theme.
Sadly disabled Yoast AND Jetpack..still happening.

I also use wpengine and have found their cacheing to be problematic sometimes, assuming you clicked the purge caches button right in the wpe tools section? Did you turn off the CDN temporarily? Did you also try disabling Object/Transient Cache from wpengine tools?
If none of that works, I’d use the staging area, install the newsest newspaper and demo data and see if its happening on staging as well.
Hi,
The theme doesn’t add og:video to your site, it must come from a plugin that you use. Also the cache doesn’t ad og: meta, but if you disable all your plugins and you don’t empty cache, the page will still be delivered by cache, the settings will not be applied. So please check this without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer and Seo by Yoast active, clear cache and remove all css/js minifications and then check again if you still have this issue. Also disable CDN.
If this doesn’t help please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-access so we can take a look, also paste a link to this conversation so we can know who you are and what your issue is.
Thanks!
