Hello – I’ve been trying to optimize my mobile site and I’m a bit confused about some of the results from Google Page Speed tests. I compressed an image that, in the media library is registering as 142kb https://www.screencast.com/t/H0Xe8h5fJ9l. However when I run the Google Page Speed test for my mobile site, it’s registering as 2,449kb. https://www.screencast.com/t/rYQYrHk6. Can you let me know what I should do to fix this?

Hi thanks for getting back to me. Yes I deleted this image from my media library https://www.screencast.com/t/zuV8cH5iWMi and replaced it with a compressed image https://www.screencast.com/t/nHaxw6a7. So my question is, now that I’ve replaced it with the compressed image, how do I get rid of the original image so I don’t get this error going forward?

The theme will use only the images that are set, but if the plugin that you are using compress the images is possible to need the original files, so there should be no problems to keep the original images.

Hi Calin – thanks for getting back to me. So I’m a bit confused as to what I need to do here. The plugin that I’m using compresses the original files and creates a new one, and I used the new image. My question is, the Google PageSpeed Insights page is highlighting the original file as an issue, so how do I get rid of it and improve my score?

Unfortunately we didn’t tested any compress plugin there fore I can not say how this is working, you can make a test and after you new image ( compresses ) was made delete the original image and check to see if the image is displaying right on your website and if the problem with that image was solved on google page speed.
Also we recommend to use gtmetrix.com.
