Options for responsive functions in Theme Panel?

Hi,

this is my first post here at the forum, mainly because the theme has worked very well all the time.

I have come across a problem now though after updating to the latest version.

There doesn’t seem to be any options for me of choosing wether i want my site to resize and stack up when being visited from a mobile device or when resizing the current window on a computer.

How do i change this so it DOES NOT resize at all, or resizes only when being visited from a mobile device. Before i updated my site did not resize on any device and although it was a while ago, i remember having changed the fixed sizes.

In Jetpack the mobile option is disabled, i do not have a color or background image chosen in the Theme Panel.

Please help as i do not have time to re-do my site for being optimized for responsiveness.

Site is: http://filmforalla.se

Thanks.

Hi, did you try theme panel > responsive settings ?

Post count: 15

@Christopher Simmons That is the setting that i have used, it is gone now. Doesn’t show at all anymore.

Okay. That would be a problem 🙂

Maybe reinstall the theme, via FTP, to be safe.

If using a child theme you may need to switch to the main theme for update, then switch back to child theme, as some seem to do (I don’t use child theme methodology due to speed issues and gremlins).

@Christopher: I just checked and there is no panel_responsive_settings.php in the .zip-file that i have downloaded to upgrade the theme. =S

Dunno what to do, now my panel_responsive_settings.php is very old as i havent been updating regularly, I might perhaps need the latest version of this file for it to work properly if no changes have been made since version 3.5 where i was when i started today. (I know, I should have updated sooner. Much sooner.)

They deleted the responsive settings in the lastest update and replace it with JS settings…

Deleted files – 2 files
includes\wp_booster\td_responsive.php
wp-admin\panel\views\panel_responsive_settings.php

New files – 7 files
images\pagebuilder\block10.png
images\pagebuilder\vimeo.png
images\pagebuilder\youtube.png
includes\modules\td_module_10.php
includes\shortcodes\td_block_10.php
wp-admin\images\panel\panel-icons\ico-js.png
wp-admin\panel\views\panel_custom_javascript.php

Wellll…. I went from 3.9.2 to 4.1 and had no issues, but I deleted the old theme folder entirely.

So, I did

1) backup dbase
2) backup “theme settings”
3) switch to twenty-twelve theme
4) delete wp-content/themes/Newspaper – folder
5) upload new theme
6) delete old visual composer folder – as noted in the update documentation on this forum
7) install new VC plugin, and new plugins from the new theme (speedbooster, etc.)
8) turn off ALL plugins
9) activate newspaper theme
10) activate visual composer theme
11) check theme settings

That worked for me.

Will try this list tonight, when all visitors hopefully are sleeping. Ill let you know how it goes. Thank you for the replies. =)

Thank you for the reply. Would the new settings be somewhere else or is it supposed to look the same as it did pre this version?

Post count: 15

This problem is not solved by removing the Newspaper-folder completely and adding the latest version to its place.

I did it according to Christopher’s guide above, I still cant see any settings for the responsive or fixed width…

Okay… wait for Marius or Lucian to get in tonight or tomorrow morning, depending on where you are in the world (I’m in Calif./USA). I don’t work for TagDiv, so my thoughts are generally just my own, but they would have an “official” help on this, or perhaps a patch to the theme if there is missing stuff.

Yep, responsive settings were removed. I was asking that in another post. I How doest this settings work now?

Post count: 15

Thank you for trying though, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. =)

I have a hunch they are moving to Bootstrap 3 break points, but not confirmed. Seems like there should be a setting for “responsive or boxed” … not sure where it is at the moment. I feel stupid 🙂

Same, I cant find anything that has to do with this and now im starting to get very tired of looking for it.

The only setting i can find is: http://www.screencast.com/t/uYNOjXARrW and if i tick that box, refresh and empty cache and what not, well nothing happens. Either way it cant be it since i have no options to what size i want like it was before. This is under the Visual Composer settings…

If Newspaper is moving for Bootstrap 3 perhaps we could use these functions anyway. Not everyone is making sites for cellphones.. I am not. Tablets and PC… where my site has looked good so far… Not so much now if windows arent fullscreen…

I think I would agree that some kind of updated docs on how the responsive layouts work, if the only option now is “responsive” or “boxed if you choose a background color.”

While it’s “simpler” to be always on for responsive by default, it seems like a specific example of how it now works would be helpful (HINT: Marius and Lucian, etc.), if the options have been removed from the admin panel.

In theory the 970/1170 concept from BS3 makes sense, but most of the theme thus far has been built on the BS2 framework to keep the IE8 compatibility which BS3 just throws out the window.

Since this is a big concern for many, likely some kind of “how responsive works now” update to the docs would be super duper helpful!

I have found something here but im not sure how this would work, and its for elements in the visual composer layout.

I get these options by clicking the “edit” pen under an element/block in the VC. Not sure what to do with it and how it would work. Feels like i have found gold in Klondike though.

Hi,

We plan to rebuild the frontend in the future (next 2-3 months) and we had to make this move. Radu O. also works on a plugin to add the removed section for users who need it. A temporary solution would be to switch back to 4.2.2, if you don’t have it send an email at contact@tagdiv.com , specify the request and i will send it to you.

Thank you, Emil G.

Post count: 171

But aside the from the lack of the options we can still use the boxed resolution just fine, right?

Post count: 9544

Boxed version still works for me.

Hi der00b,

So you are also frustrated by the sudden removal of fixed (non responsive) mode? Nice! Means I am not alone.

If TagDIV had announced this sooner, would have saved me a lot of time, energy and frustration.

Did you find actual gold in Klondike, regarding getting the website back to fixed dimension?
Do the settings you found, work?

Hi Ouwe,

I havent tried yet becuase the whole family fell sick so i have only kept to minor updating. Will try to downgrade to 4.2.2 during the week and i can let you know, otherwise i suggest throwing an email to Emil as he says above and he will let you have a .zip to try out with. =)
