Go in WP to posts > categories and hover mouse over the category name and you should see the ID as part of the URL.

This doesn’t seem to be working. The sports category here has id 16 but when I input that in the tabbed content, I get no posts.

Hello,
You can add only pages in the tabbed content, not categories or posts.
So, you need to create pages, add the flex block, filter the block for a specific category, and set the pages in the element.
