i’d like to create a page ( home page, with articles) and have left and right sidebars. is there a way to do this through the theme options? or how to?

Hi,
You could do it using page builder and add a row then spit that row in three columns and add a sidebar on the left and one in the right like this: http://screencast.com/t/jDKe7bbu19jY
