Hello to everyone.
I have a little issue.
So, I just got this message in google webmaster tool. My website is http://www.storypickers.com
And I have remove the “category base” from url by using Yoast Seo plugin. However it seems that google and bing it has two pages, one with the cateogory base and another one without category and that’s way I got this message by google webmaster tool. Here it is a screenshot:

However when you try to go in that page by writing on the url “category” you will redirected to a page without “category”
How can I fix this? Waiting for you suggestions, wish to you all the best!
Use YOAST SEO or similar tool which will generate unique META titles/descriptions for your category/index pages!
Using YOAST SEO, you can have it automatically add things like
Books and Publishing, archive page 1
Books and Publishing, archive page 2
which will take care of that issue – common to ALL WP sites eventually (should be built into WP frankly, but noooooo…..) 🙂
Welcome to WordPress!

Hi Chris. I already use that plugin. Yoast SEO has that option to remove from the “category base”.
But what i should do now becuae I have some pages who have duplicate description and content. Becuse are indexed two version, the one with “Category” and the other one without “category”?
Put another way, if you change link structure then the old should redirect to new, and the new version should reflect the updated canonical link. WP should NOT be serving two different valid URLs with two of the same canonical tags unless you really messed it up.
One version (the onw with “category base”) doesnt even exist. I don’t have a page like that to add or remove the canonical tag!
Hi,
Maybe this will help: https://yoast.com/duplicate-content/
(not theme related though)
Thank you!
