Hello,
When running a PageSpeed Insight, I’ve noticed that Mobile scores (62) much worse than Desktop (89).
Mobile:
FCP – 3.0
Speed Index – 7.5S (I’m assuming this might be my hosting provider?)
LCP – 4.7S
Time to Interactive – 4.9S
Total Blocking Time – 340MS
CLS – 0
Desktop:
FCP – .9S
Speed Index – 2.3S
LCP – 1.1S
Time to Interactive .9S
Total Blocking Time – 0 MS
CLS: 0
Does anyone know why this might be and how I should go about fixing it?
As Google is going into full mobile mode in May, website owners will be required to pay attention mainly to their mobile number. Desktop numbers usually show good for most sites, but with Google making bigger requirements for mobile page speed (especially with the dreaded Largest Content Paint) we have to do research on what to make these numbers go lower to keep the big G happy.
Hey, of course, this is very important and needs improvement, but let’s not get crazy. Check how the competition is doing, much better or worse? My score is better than yours, but not for every location and device either. It took a lot of work.

I’m mainly curious if it’s the theme not optimized as well for Mobile or what? Should I go about finding a different them just for mobile users that has better speed?
Basically, you optimize your theme as every theme out there is going to have issues since how many plugins you have also determines this along with how many blocks, extra things you use.
Our Newspaper site has gotten up to the 77, 96, 93, 98 score, but it’s been two months of researching everything that is suggested. There are a lot of factors including server, which version of PHP you are running, which caching programs you use, if your using webp, etc.
It seems overwhelming at first, but if you just break it down one by one, it’s all easier to deal with.
Yes, each page has its own settings, the server matters and many other factors. The topic is not bad, but… Reading their forum, you will get the same rules from the support, it’s just a pity that most of them are out of date. Unfortunately, money counts, they want to milk us as much as possible, such times.
New tool, too bad it applies to the home page and that’s it! I ran it on my site, it took more than 5 hours, the profit was small. There are other plugins that do this much better.
At this point I should probably go back to a basic free theme for mobile if Google is going to worry about that so much. What a shame. I figured an optimization I do on the Desktop version would automatically transfer to mobile. Guess I’ve got more learning to do!
Google is the pain since they love to do these massive algorithm changes and expect all of us to it…or else. But they fail to let us know how to make these changes properly. This is why so many sites keep going under as they can’t keep up with Google’s demands and suffer in the rankings.
When it comes to the LCP thing, I truly think the developer of this theme is responsible as it’s their code that is keeping us from being able to properly preload the featured images. I can pretty much guarantee they will have another update by May 1 since Google’s new algorithm kicks in then.

Now you just have to focus solely on Mobile as Google is literally letting go of Desktop analysis and focusing 100 percent on Mobile. Sadly, the desktop doesn’t transfer to mobile, and one of the best test settings is to run for 3G phones as it’s better to run tests on slower bandwidths to see what needs to change on your site as the majority of phones out there still run on those.
Google will test on that basis also so while it’s great to run on the fastest bandwidths, reality shows that we need to test at the low end too.

I wouldn’t count on a quick update any time soon. We’ve been waiting for this for months and they’ve made a few small changes. Oh yes, the template requires some serious changes, new thinking. Which doesn’t mean it’s bad because the theme is good, but also the fact that it lacks some nice features. It is a pity that TagDiv is not working on compatibility with other plugins, I understand that they promote eg Yoast, because only here they recommend it, this is of course just an example.
You’re right Google raises the bar and turns us on our heads 🙂 We have to learn or pay to follow him. It’s good that there are many interesting plugins that do a lot for us. I myself use this theme on several pages and use different optimization settings.
Basically, it’s trying to get the featured images and home page images above the fold to preload as that is affecting the Largest Content Paint scores for most people.
It’s just trying to get the code you all use to preload, that’s it. Otherwise, everything else is fine.

Hello @thefeedski !
As you can see here on GTmetrix, the page speed issue that you are facing https://gtmetrix.com/reports/gamerhabitat.com/qTfBDqr9/ are caching and minifying related.
Thank you !
Oh Wow. That’s much worse than what I’m scoring on Google PageSpeed Insights, but regardless I’m referring to my mobile version, not my Desktop version (which that’s what I believe GMetrix is looking at if I’m not mistaking).
Regarding Caching, I do have a caching plugin and also have an image minimizer. Are there other things I should be doing to fix those issues that you know of?
