When someone signs up for a new account it sends a password to their e-mail. I know we can use custom registration forms to bypass this to simply have new users enter a password when they register, but I was wondering if there was a way for this to work with the built-in registration form with Newspaper. Can we make it so that they enter a username/password with nothing being sent to e-mail? Thanks.

Unfortunately you cannot do it from the theme as it;s not the theme sending the passwords, but wordpress. Our theme uses the default registration system of WP just styled differently, If you want to change a wordpress feature you have to change the WP files to do it.
