Hi,
We have build a website with Newspaper template and most things are working fine. Except the permalink structure. The URL gives an index.php in it, which is not so nice for SEO. We tried to fix this, but if we change the permalink we get 404’s on all the subpages except of the homepage.
We think it’s an .htaccess problem, because permalink structure works fine on our test environment, but on the live environment.
Is there any way to fix this problem?

Unfortunately if for your testing site it works properly, maybe you do require a htaccess adjustment for permalinks or the SEO yoast plugin: http://screencast.com/t/KSiSNiAGiON
I cannot say for sure. You can also try to please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

We also thought this has something to do with the .htaccess. We’ll contact the involved hosting provider.
