Plugin conflict with PressForward, WP-Cron? – Please help

Hey guys,
I know you normally don’t do this but I really need your help on this one. I’m using a plugin called PressForward which worked fine like 2-3 months ago but since then it won’t retrieve RSS Feeds automatically as it should. It is done with wp-cron. What does this issue have to do with newspaper you ask? I don’t freaking know! I tried everything from setting up a real cronjob to deactivating all plugins and just now it slipped my mind to change the theme from newspaper to twentyeleven. Suddenly everything works fine! So something in the theme’s code must conflict with the plugin in matters of automatic feed retrieval. Do you have any idea on how to fix this?

It’s possible it stopped working due to other conflict like WordPress 4.8.1, Yoast SEO update, WooCommerce update, etc., etc.

Good to check the support topics for that plugin also.

And, of course, check F12 for console errors, turn on the built-in WordPress error log debug function, check your hosting panel for error log, etc. — as good ways to see what is causing hiccups.

Sometimes plugins like ‘autooptimize’ or a CDN or cache plugin setting can break things, too.

Not sure that helps. Just food for thought.

I don’t work here.

Seems unlikely. I disabled all plugins, so currently there is only PressForward active and it still doesn’t work. However when I keep the plugins turned off and also switch from Newspaper 8 to Twenteyeleven Theme, PressForward works fine. So I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the theme itself. Support from PressForward is…well, I haven’t got a reply in about 2 months now. I’ve set WP Debug on now, so maybe I find something that helps in there.

Hi,

It could be something in the theme conflicting with the plugin you mention. I don’t know what solution I could give you if the plugin is no longer compatible with the theme. Something could have changed in the theme code or in the plugin, that is now creating a conflict.
Maybe in this situation you can find a different plugin which has the options you need and also works with the theme.

Thanks
