Plugin Conflicts With Theme

Hi, I understand that you do not support plugin conflicts. However, all of my plugin conflicts have started with the release of Newspaper 7. I have been dealing with individual plugin developers to work through conflicts without much success. I use an automatic tweeting plugin called Tweet Wheel Pro for the past year. I can’t use it now because it disables the front page and crashes the backend of wordpress so you can’t post. I have been having issues with WP Pro Ad plugin as well.

Below is a pasted message from the Tweet Wheel Pro developer who has been trying to help with his plugin – this is a premium $100/year plugin that it looks like I now have to abandon because of the updates to the theme.

Message below:
Hi there,

Thank you for your patience on this.

I logged in and installed the latest version of Tweet Wheel Pro 2.0.5 and noted the following:

1. There is clearly a conflict between some hooks used within all installed plugins. I could see errors displayed at the top of the edit screen.

2. When I deactivate WP Pro Ad System plugin, the error above disappears. It doesn’t fix the page editing issue though, so I looked further.

3. When I keep WooCommerce active, but deactivate Visual Composer, I can edit Homepage and everything is back to normal.

4. When I keep Visual Composer active, but deactivate WooCommerce, I can edit Homepage and everything is back to normal.

To make sure I am right I literally deactivated all the plugins, but TWP, VC and WC. Taking TWP out of equation didn’t fix the issue leaving VC and WC to be the reason why your website acts odd.

To sum up, it looks like WP Baker Visual Composer and WooCommerce have some kind of conflict here. I can tell you are using the latest version of both, so it might have caused some bugs within your website when you upgraded.

WP Pro Ad System plugin has also some errors, but I don’t think they are any crucial. It would be a good idea to make developers aware of them. It can be specific to your installation though, so not sure if they would address your request. Depends on the quality of support really.

I am very sorry I cannot be any more specific, but least what I can advise is you can revert VC or WC to the older version. Perhaps that would fix the conflict.

If there is anything else you would need help with, do not hesitate to get in touch ?

End of Message..

I’m not sure if these issues are exclusive to my site http://www.observerxtra.com but if you can comment on any of this I would appreciate the help.

Thanks

Hello Patrick,

Unfortunately, as you mentioned, we cannot offer support for untested plugins. We only tested the ones on this list: http://screencast.com/t/lLaRuK7oCAbE Any plugin beyond this list could provide mixed results. Visual composer and woocomerce work well together, but we cannot say for sure if they will still work together with other plugins. You can test this by deactivating all plugins except visual composer and woocommerce and clearing all caches. This way you can see if there is a conflict directly between woocommerce and visual composer. We are not aware of any such conflict. (I tested both plugins on my end but could not find any issues when both are active). If your plugin worked in newspaper 6 even with VC and Woocommerce, then you can revert your theme version to newspaper 6 if you truly need the plugin.

Thank you!
