if I run a SEO-Tool every tool show me that my website has no h1-headings. Is the post title in the Newsmag theme not automatically marked as h1? If not where can I change this? This make my SEO quit bad…

Posts have H1 tag for the post title; simply do “view source” and you can see your actual page code/HTML and do search for “h1” … it’s there 🙂

Well, dunno. If you look at your post page and it has h1 tag then it obviously does, right?
Home page may not have H1 tag but you can add that simply by creating at text box bottom of page in new row, or custom sidebar and put short description of site – done 🙂

The pages don’t have h1 tags in theirs html structure but as Chris suggested you can use a text box with some content to add this tag.

I’ve been meaning to ask the same question.
For SEO reasons, I really need my POST TITLEs to be tagged as <h1>, on the post page. ‘View source’ does show that the title is indeed h1, BUT the SEO tools that I’ve used don’t seem to acknowledge that.
When I activate other themes (which are FREE themes btw), the post titles are perceived as first level (<h1>), which indicates that it is most likely that the HTML headings structure for NewsMag needs to be reviewed/inspected.
Please explain how is this possible? And what can be done about it (for the post page, not the home page)?

Also, Google structured data tool is NOT an SEO tool. Try running the same test on seositecheckup.com or woorank.com

but if you **LOOK** at your actual rendered POST pages on the web, and actually VIEW the HTML you will see the post title has H1 tag … so, if the H1 tag is there, and Google can see it — then QED, the SEO tool you’re using is faulty, right?
Perhaps share one of your normal posts/articles which supposedly has no H1 tag ? Link ?
If there is some bug or hack, or conflict somehow causing the H1 tag not to be there on your post pages, THAT would be an issue, but the past 2 years all TagDiv themes have — per normal website practice — made the post TITLE on the page an H1 tag, as it should be. Meaning the big headline for the article/post found at top of the post itself.
Never mind that a forum is TagDiv’s idea of support, I still expect my needs and concerns as a customer to be taken seriously and treated respectfully.

I find it odd (to say the least), especially coming from a ‘marketing guru’, that you would suggest that the mentioned above SEO tools might be faulty.
If you are not part of TagDiv’s support team, please withhold your comments. I expect competent customer support.

@pawsandwhiskars we do our best to answer at customers questions and serving theirs needs it’s a goal of us.
Indeed google structured data is not a tool for seo but is a reliable tool for testing the html structure of a web page. If the post title is seen by the browser with h1 tag, every other testing tools, which refers at page structure when analyze the page, should display the same result.
If the result is different than is expected means that either the tested post have a different tag for title, that should be visible in browser’s inspector, or the testing tool interpret something wrong and in this case must reconsider its utility.

I believe I found my explanation. When it comes to SEO tools, most of the weight is carried by the pages of a website as opposed to analyzing the post structures. Hence the results indicating the missing <h1> tag.
I saw the ‘adding a textbox’ workaround. Stylistically and visually not the best solution, but there doesn’t seem to be a choice in that matter.
Now I have a new question for you:
On a default template page, I am using a Block 13 plus a Widgetised Sidebar.
The Block 13 headers are <h3>. I need to change that to <h2>. How do I do that? I need some guidance, please.
As you might already know, and I can’t stress it enough, SEO is crucial when it comes to content-related websites, which is why it is imperative that I get my <h1> and <h2> tags ‘questions’ sorted out.

You can change the tag used for posts titles in blocks from td_module.php like here: http://screencast.com/t/URv22SFSkaw Note that this change will affect the posts from every block as the function used to display the posts tiles on blocks is the same.
