As per the instructions given here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/post-last-updated/#post-194126 I could see post last updated date in all my posts. But now i am facing another issue. Whenever i update any post, google and bing is not showing the date in search results. If i do not update a newly published post, google shows the date. Examples are here :-

https://snag.gy/PXcoLn.jpg – Post was updated, submitted to google for indexing and now the date is missing from google search results. I also checked the date in yoast post sitemap xml and i see the date shown the latest updated post date. But i am still clueless why google is not showing dates when i update any posts ?.
I am using a default template and I have added this code to the single post loop Default template.
<?php echo the_modified_date(‘F j, Y’, ‘<div class=”td-post-date”> Last Updated: ‘,'</div>’); ?>
Is the problem arising from “div class=”td-post-date” ??. Instead of td-post-date should i add something else ?.

It could be a simple matter of time before the date will be displayed again. There are no errors in the page according to Google testing tool

It detects the publish and update time correctly so the modification in the code works. If there were any issues they would appear in the test.

I have tested the link using structured data testing tool and even i didn’t find any errors. For other posts, i have waited over a month of time to see the dates but dates are still not shown.
1) Why is the google not showing/reading my post updated date ?.
2) Why is google only showing the dates of posts that i did not update ?.

Have you checked in the page source if metadata is being picked up.
I’ve made the following changes to my blog running on TagDiv Newspaper, and it works just fine.
I’ve implemented the how to display last modified time instead of published time on my blog http://www.techbuzz.in and also I’ve blogged about the same.
However, the effect of this has to be studied when NewsPaper theme is updated.

Bloggers should use use this feature cautiously as mis-using it might attract penalty from Google.
If you Use Yoast SEO Plugin, make sure the option “Date in Snippet Preview” is enabled in SEO>Search Appearance>Content Types.
