I think your post view counter doesn’t work properly. Lets say I post something and I looked at the view count and it said something like 10-11 and it wasn’t even 5 minutes after my post. I look at my website stats and that happens even when no one is browsing my website. Correct me if I am wrong.
The view counter is a “hit counter” and increments each time somebody views the page. Nothing more fancy than that.
I am talking about the view counter on individual POSTS.

I have also tested this and haven’t found any issues with it. Please note that each page visit even a refresh of it is counted as a view and incremented.
Make sure you use the latest theme version (4.6.1) and also provide your site’s URL so I can check this.

The view counter which appears on posts is only counting how many times the page is loaded/viewed. So, if you’re setup to ping pingomatic for instance, and it visits your page to verify it works, that is one “view” … if you go to your site to check story after post, that is a “view” … it’s not an advanced stats package. Just a simple “how many times page was loaded/viewed” counter. It doesn’t use analytics or complex IP tracking, cookies or anything like that.
So, it’s working perfectly on all our sites. Should work the same on yours unless you’ve changed the code in some way or have inaccurate caching setup.
Note that if you don’t want to count the views made by yourself while previewing or initial view, you can reset the views to “0” on the post edit page after publishing from the custom fields boxes. Simple.
