This is a problem the option to upload images via by image (links) or directly to the file path. Right now uploading to file path only works. Uploading a Media image via url or link isn’t working!
To reproduce this issue:
* login into your wordpress dashboard
* in the dashboard go to the Post section
* create a new post “Add New”
* fill out the title info and the content description
* now click the “Add Media” button
* click on “Insert From URL”
* add your URL image
* now publish your post
* places where it doesn’t show:
a. page or category where your post should display
b. side bar image of post
c. in popular posts
d. anywhere where there is an image that needs to display it’s not pulling any image when you do a post via URL image

I’ve test this on my side and didn’t found any issue, the image from external url it’s displayed fine even if you navigate to the post from category page or from sidebar. I am not sure why this issue appear on your side but you can try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again. If the problem persist please provide a link where we can inspect it so we can have a closer look.
